Terms of Use
Last updated: 24 October 2026 · The German version (Nutzungsbedingungen) is the legally binding one; this English version is a translation.
1. Provider and scope
HeartWord (German: HerzWort) is provided by DLS Software & Beratung GmbH, Kinzigstraße 10a, 63584 Gründau, Germany (legal notice, email: info@herzwort.app). These terms apply to the website, the web app at /go/ and the HeartWord apps. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
2. The service
HeartWord helps you read, collect, annotate, share and memorise Bible texts. It is free to use. We keep developing HeartWord and may change, add or discontinue features. We aim for smooth operation but do not guarantee any particular availability; maintenance and technical problems can cause interruptions.
3. Your account
- To save and sync your own content you need an account, created with an email address and password or via Google. The email address must be yours and reachable.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password secret and tell us if you suspect your account is being misused.
- You must be at least 16 years old. If you are younger, you need your parents' consent.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
4. Your content
Notes, collections, companion texts, images, voice recordings and other content you create remain yours. You grant us only the rights we need to run HeartWord for you: to store your content, sync it between your devices, process it technically (e.g. resize images or read texts aloud) and show it to the people you share it with. If you share content publicly, we may display it publicly for as long as the share exists.
You are responsible for your content. Only upload and share content you have the necessary rights to. Note that uploaded images can be retrieved via their link without signing in (see the Privacy Policy).
5. What is not allowed
- content that breaks the law, insults, threatens or degrades others, incites hatred or violence, or infringes the rights of others (e.g. copyright or personality rights),
- advertising, spam or harvesting other users' data,
- attacks on HeartWord, circumventing access or usage restrictions, and automated bulk requests that impair operation,
- redistributing Bible texts beyond what the respective licence permits.
In case of violations we may remove content, end shares and suspend accounts temporarily or permanently. We review reported content.
6. Bible texts and other sources
Bible translations, lexicons, commentaries and the Moravian Daily Watchwords come from third parties and are subject to their licences; some translations are only available after signing in. Rights holders and licences are listed on the Bible translations & rights page. The rights to the app itself (software, design, our own texts) are ours.
7. Liability
HeartWord is provided free of charge. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. Otherwise, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Please keep an additional copy of important content using the export feature.
8. Ending use
You can stop using HeartWord at any time by deleting your account. Should we discontinue HeartWord, we will announce this in good time so you can export your data.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when features or the law change. We will inform you about material changes in advance in the app or by email. If you continue to use HeartWord afterwards, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
10. Final provisions
German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected. Should any provision be invalid, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
